This is the latest addition to my modest Schrade collection: an 8 OT with green bone scales.
I can't say that the color appeals to me but the scales are very thick bone and the knife is virtually new but was stored poorly by the former owner. The box has a strong odor of mildew and the brass pins had a green color that fortunately rubbed off. The good news is the blades, bolsters and liners are pristine. The plastic bag it was stored in and the factory oil did its job.
The thick bone scales make this knife feel more substantial than a similar sized knife with Delrin scales. After my initial disappointment at seeing it, I've decided that it was a decent knife after all and I didn't pay a whole lot for it.

That's a nice knife. I have one too. How is your box marked? Mine has the same box, but it has a white sticker on the end marked "8OTG" instead of the normal printing which I presume is under the sticker.

one like this one Dave? :D

Actually, Hal, yes, exactly like that. Guess it's not quite like the one posted now that I look at it. I haven't seen mine in a while. It still hasn't been unpacked from my move.

Thanks for the responses, gentlemen. The box end flap is stamped "8 OTG" and there is no sticker. I like the look of the scales on your 8 OT, thawk.
I have carried a Buck 301 that was made by Schrade for over 40 years, off and on. It has given terrific service and the 8 OT seems to be of the same quality.

Here is another one that perhaps vaguely belongs in this thread. I believe it is the same as an Old Timer Classic, but with SCHRADE+ steel, hollow ground, no EVERLASTINGLY SHARP etch, and no shield. In other words, unfinished or put together for the bankruptcy sale? It is really quite nice.

Hi Spectrum, good to have you here. Thank you very much for sharing the photo of your green bone Old Timer.

Similar knives, Old Timers with smooth bone handles and pinched bolsters, have been discussed previously in the Schrade Collectors section. I think you'll find this old topic insightful, even if you don't find a definite answer.
