Does anyone know if the Schrade Automatic knife was supplied by the U.S. to WW II paratroopers for parachute chord cutting? I was told this by a WW II veteran. I have two of these knives, one has notches etched into the blade handle. Could these notches have signified number of jumps or something like that. photos are posted under Schrade automatic knives.

Well according to The Collectors Guide to Switchblade Knifes , there were some WWII issue knives made by Schrade but from what I can see the goverment issue knives had a bail or schakle where the civilian version did not.
If you could post pictures I'm sure someone can give you more details on your knives.
