Today's generations seem to have more and more of one characteristic - they want "it",and they want "it"
now.Since they want so much, they buy as cheap as possible.
Many of them carry big mortgages on their $300K-$400K houses and they carry massive debt on their credit cards so they don't have any money left to use principles as a buying guide.
Today's schools teach little history and what they teach is "sanitized" by political correctness.
The treacherous Japanese killed a lot of servicemen at Pearl Harbor in a sneak attack and we helped them rebuild their industrial base for them.Thirty years later they were selling cars and other stuff in the US.Now,Toyota is bigger than General Motors.
The Japs don't allow their people to own firearms and the Jap government has been pushing the UN to outlaw private firearms all over the world.Nikon had to bring their scopes to the US for testing because it is illegal to own/shoot a firearm in Japan. The Jap Olympic firearm team had to go to another country to practice for the Seoul Olympics and the Olympics had to get special dispensation to hold the shooting and Biathlon competitions in Japan and almost had to hold them elsewhere. Despite all of this,US gunowners are still willing to buy scopes, guns, etc. that are made in a country that is doing their best to outlaw our firearms.
Look at some of the sporting magazines from the 40's and 50's.Probably 95-98% of the hunting and fishing equipment was made in the US and provided many people with decent employment. There were 100's of these companies that made rods, reels, knives, clothing, lures, rifles, shotguns, reloading equipments, tools, etc. New York state alone was loaded with them! How many are left? Practicly none!
Was it Karl Marx or the other guy,who said words to effect -"The business capitalist will bid on selling rope to those who intend to hang him with it".
Maybe this country needs a hard depression to change some of our materialistic ways!
