I have a friend (ex Scout Sniper in the Marine Corps) for whom I want to get a nice 50th birthday present. He has, over the years, frequently talked about a Schrade BiCentennial Commemorative set which a friend of his owned, and that he loved. Apparently, it was 14 knives, one for each of the original 13 states, and one for the USA.

I cannot find any information about this set, despite trying to find it on the web, etc. I wonder if the Schrade community would be able to help me out by providing any information on the set, or giving me any leads on where such a set might be obtained.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The set you are referring to was actually made by Schrade for Parker, if I'm not mistaken. There was a different knife for each of the 13 colonies in several patterns (I remember a stockman, a trapper, a muskrat, and a congress), and a 14th knife. It was a large stag handled clasp knife with the names of all 13 colonies engraves on the blade. A very nice set. I've seen come up a few times complete on eBay, (generally in the $400-600 range) but usually the knives get sold off individually. That's how I pieced mine together. I takes a while that way and can get quite expensive. Other than ebay, I couldn't tell you where to look for one, but keep an eye out. You never know what pops up there.

It's actually referred to as the Thirteen Colonies Set, kind of tough to find in one piece as Dave said. I'll try asking around, but I don't know of any available off hand.

about a month ago there were two or three states up for auction on the bay. but have not seen them lately. they went for a reasonable price also.
