Schrade bowie 1091981

Hi. Brand new. Never posted.
I am looking at a Schrade bowie ( old timer on grip ). It is stamped 1091981. .... "...the more I learn about knives, I learn... ....there is more and more I will never..... .....know"... so, here is my simple question.. I can't find the answer anywhere, it simple says..." no matches".. my question.... ..." does the 1981 in the stamp mean the year of production"...? It doesn't have a leather sheath, it is a new- fangled one, leading me to believe it is not 41 y.o. (not that I know when non- leather came about) Easy question, I guess, but I am befuddled. Help.

It's just a Schrade 'Old Timer Bowie'. The number is probably a model number, if you search online for 'schrade 1091981' you will get a lot of results.
440 stainless, nylon sheath. Seems fairly lower end of the spectrum.

It is a terrible crime what the Chinese have done to the fine old Schrade name.
