This knife has been discussed here before. Probably the most elaborate version was the jewel-adorned one made for Popular Mechanics magazine. Expensive. It's a fine knife, but I thought it was a little plain. First project was a new sheath. Although Paul is who I consider our offical schrade forum sheathmaker, I made a good deal with a leather crafter in my knife club; a sheath for a knife. I gave him no instruction, just turned him loose, only specifying I wanted a 'guard type' strap. I think you'll agree he did a nice job for me. Note the interesting top of the belt loop... well, no, it is not a belt loop per se, not the way he put it together. I forgot to ask him for Brass hardware, but he went ahead and did it anyway so as to match the furniture on the knife.
As the photo shows, the knife was a bit plain. The thing took a trip to Texas for the beautiful engraving now adorning it. Here is the artists' website. Mike Pardue is a fine, fine guy, you can count on him to do excellent work. Just like with the sheath, just like I always ask of an artist I am dealing with, I gave him no instructions, just told him to use his own good judgement. I'm happy.

I did consider having the piece re-handled, was thinking white or ivory micarta. But I like the wood, and didn't want to stray too far from what Schrade intended of this knife. Not done with the knife yet. One more little project, but had to show it off to you guys.
