Anyone know the story on the following Ebay knife: 7228511980

One pops up every so often but none of them have any tang stamp or Schrade markings at all. Worth adding to the collection?
I tried searching the Schrade forum but the search engine doesn't like the word "bowie".

Thanks

I've had a couple of chances to buy that knife and each time I actually had the money. Why not? Well, I guess the biggest thing is that it is not marked 'Schrade'. None of these plain ones seem to be. But it is the real thing.

I've seen several of them all decked out... with diamonds, even. There was one for the NRA, and this one described in the link for Popular Mechanics magazine.

I have one of the blank knives and it's a very nice well made knife. They are not stamped because the tang was engraved when the knife was finished for whatever issue it was going to be.

The knife that Schrade made for the 2004 Shot Show is probably the most elaborate version of this Knife that I have seen or read about:

Schrade 100th Anniversary 2004 Shot Show Knife

This knife is indeed a Schrade and I buy as many as I can get. These were made after the first bowie edition of this type the Texas edition. It is not unusual or a fake however you must be able to recognize the knife. In fact I just bought one last week. It is the same knife that was also made as the colt edition these were not tang marked either in fact they were ordered that way by Colt. Since Colt did not want the Schrade name only there logo electro etched( Ruger also did this with PH-2 knives only they used a Ruger shield instead of an electro engraving.) The one on now has the original sheath the one I bought last week did not have an original . If you compare them you will find that the Texas or colt version has a slightly longer front drop. Than say the stag handled WWII or other comm styles. The wood handled texas style was made in two sizes and you very rarely see the smaller version. LT

So, is the going rate of around $80 a really good deal on these or is this about right? These seem to be somewhat rare so I'd expect them to go for a lot more.

Actually as with many ebay items it is an uninformed buying public that makes the market. I get 200 dollars for them. Believe it or not. That is because I know what they are and so do the people who I deal with. I also have the correct furniture grade displays they fit in as well as other original display cases to which they are the center piece. Last week I got one for around 75 dollars plus shipping, it had not received a bid and I sniped it. I have seen them bring more than 200 on ebay then sometimes you can get one for 75. It is like many items, especially Schrade. Some people do not realize rarity or what something really is or why it is the way it is. Of course that is only my feelings on why this is. However if they wish to continue to let these go at that price i will be happy to buy them. It is a really nice knife which sometimes flys under the radar. Last year LB-1 knives were bringing 100 dollars some even more. Then it will switch to another model that everyone must have, usually these were knives of which thousands and thousands were made, so go figure, it is beyond me, I guess it is what is in vogue at the time. I have attached some pics. LT
