I recently got a copy of the 1928-1938 Schrade catalog with supplements that was redone in 1971 by A.G.Russell & co with Schrades permission. If you want to get a good idea of the variety and quantity of pocket knives that Schrade was putting out during those 10 years get a copy. There is sections for the pocket knives another for the switch/button knives and a section for the "knife Salesman" which shows the pocket knives in salesmans assortment cases. Tables explain the shields and the stampings on the blades as well as a picture of the blade types. I found mine at knifeworld and I'm told they are a little scarse.

I'll bet a dollar LT has 90% of these.

I'll take 2 cases of assortment #9.
Oh, for a time machine and a little more money!

During the years I have collected little stories which I call the stomach turners. Now nobody worry this will not be like the tale I told around Christmas about the guy who blew his face off. No these are stories that would only make a devout knife collector nauseous. In 1957 Schrade was planning to move from Walden to Ellenville. Since the idiot ( that is how I refer to them ) switchblade laws were going to take effect in 58, and Schrade was already planning to phase them out so they offered them to the employees at a special price just to get rid of them. I am sure most of you realize what a new unused 3,3/4" Schrade double ender is worth today ( if you can find one in that condition). Well if you look in that reprint catalogue you mention ( the Russell reprint) you will see these were sold 12 to a box assorted cell jigged bone ect. If you were an employee back then you were offered the opportunity to buy those boxes of 12 for 13 dollars. Well 13 dollars was a lot of money to a factory worker in those days and besides who needed all them funny little pocket knives, so most employees did not avail themselves of the opportunity. I would say a box of them today in the box new ect could fetch 3000 perhapes 3500 dollars. Being unique chances are as high as 5000. Even the cardboard box alone would bring several times the original investment. AH Hindsight, There is a guy on TV who always says the only things you regret are those you don't buy he may be right.
