Can anyone help me identify, date, and value this knife? I know a lot about CASE knives, but just picked this one up as part of a collection and I have no ideas on ANYTHING about this knife. Thanks.

The tang stamp and the fact that it's a bone Schrade Walden would I think date it between the late forties and late fifties/early sixties. I would have valued it at around $30 but that finger print on the bolster definitely cuts that in half. Tell you what, I'll give you $25 and hope that I can somehow get it cleaned off:D  :D Just kidding, your best bet would be to search Ebay's completed listings for a similar jigged bone cattleman or equal end jack, maybe look under Schrade Cutlery Co rather than Walden since your knife is closer to that era. Definitely $100+

Here's one to compare it to, keeping in mind that CutCo's historically sell for more than Waldens, but also that yours is in more pristine condition, also, if yours was cleaned it can also affect value. It's a very fickle business trying to value a knife, which is why I'd rather not commit to any figures.

PS Those are some damned clear photos!

Thanks for the information. I collect CASE knives, and this came in a bundle of CASE knives I was buying. Someone offered me $125 for this, and I wasn't sure if it was a fair price or not, not being a Schrade man. Any other thoughts, and, EA, thanks for all the information so far.

Really brings out details. I believe it is a scanner. Is that knife just brand spanking new, or has it been repolished?

I'll bet Charlie could give us a good idea about value, as he has a few of these.

What was in the rest of the collection Stupidhead, just Case knives?

I have a Canon camera. It's a nice one. I also sharpened the pics in Picasa. Not a scanner. Anyway, the rest of the collection had 10 1997 CASE Copperlocks, a 1974 rigging knife, a couple sharktooths (one stag, one pakkawood), a few stockmans, a couple trappers, one stag swing guard (1977), an old kabar folding hunter, a case mini-trapper, Kershaw 1050 (made in Oregon, gotta love that), few others. Check the pics.

Well, I guess we'll see. I threw 7 of 'em on ebay today. I'm keeping about a third of 'em, unloading the rest.
