Hello, this is my first thread and I am kind of new to this so I hope I did this right. I was looking at the Taylor Brands catalog and I saw the SCHF1 and the SCHF3 looked exactly like the CRK Project and The Green Beret Knife. I am a fan of the look of CRK but these knives look reasonable for the price. I wanted to know if anyone had these knives the SCHF3 in particular and if they could recommend them or not, thanks:jerk it:

not sure on the knives but I know people look down upon stolen designs around here.

check the reviews and testing subforum.

i think mistwalker did a review on one of the crk "lookalikes" and it was favorable from a performance standpoint.

:D I have the schf 3 and the only complaint I have is that the serrated teeth are so large. Other than that no complaints.;)

If you like the design, buy it kiddo. As much as I hate the stealing of designs or intellectual propery, I don't think that CR is really going to loose that much business to Schrade over these copies of his One Piece Knives & Harsey designs. Buy what you can afford, keep your nose clean, work hard, and one day you'll be able to get the real thing. Don't worry.

Be careful this one doesn't break in your hand tho.

I've got the SCHF2 and I love it. It's constructed of 1070 and it appears to be properly heat treated. So I wouldn't expect it to break in your hand. In addition, CRK doesn't make integral knives anymore. So AFAIC, case closed.

.

Yeah I was very impressed with the schrades preformances on knifetests. One of the things that turns me off about the green beret is that I think that s30v is not a good steel for a large fixed blade but correct me if i'm wrong.

Nothing wrong with saving. You might find a great deal also, as these will most likely show up on the secondary market.

i think it sucks. i think that's pathetic, and low of a large mainstream company like schrade (a company with reputation!) to knock off the quality designs of CRK, or any other small knife making company.

this is very disappointing.

support it if you want, whatever. i'm sure it will work, and cut stuff. but it's still a knockoff.

so you're 15. buy what you can afford, and save up for what you want. you'll grow up. but any age is a good age to learn to buy into quality.

Schrade used to have a reputation and be a mainstream company. But Schrade doesn't exist anymore. Its Taylor Brands thats doing this, the same people that bring you Smith and Wesson knives.

Every knife by smith and wesson ive had were total crap. They came dull, didn't take a good edge, and the linerlocks they use are horrible. tons of blade wobble and the blade can escape and cut your fingers. Thats happened to me a couple times.

Agreed, Shcrade is just a name now, not a company.

S&W has different sub brands. Some are gas station junk, some are decent, and some are great. Even in those groups though, quality is hit and miss. I have a SWAT in my pocket right now that's easily one of the best knives I've owned. I also have a couple of S&W folders that fell apart out of the box. Same way with fixed blades, I have some that are junk and others like the Outback or HRT Survival that are great knives.
