Recently I took a look at some Boker Tree Brand slip joints and a couple of regular Old Timer knives. I was surprised to see such a quality difference regarding the fit and finish between the two. The Boker had nicer fit and finish and my question is how do the Schrade limited editions such as the Cigar box and the Ducks Unlimited series compare to Bokers,Queens, ect. Does anyone know what blade steel Schrade is using on the Cigar Box series?

A Pat on the Back is only a few inches from a Kick in the Butt.

They are using the standard Schrade plus stainless. They are a nice knife for the money most of there assembly is usually similar on most lines. Schrade has always used a buffed finish on there blades which a lot of people have felt has hurt them in the long run the high polish finish of other companys looks much prettier. Schrades belief was that there knives were users and not wall hangers ( of which I love both ). The knives you mention still have nickle silver bolsters and like I said are nice for the money. Boker makes a nice knife also. I guess that is what makes a horse race. Personally I prefer the older knives in fact I prefer the past in fact I haven't understood a movie since True Grit. Good Hunting LT

Thank you Lt for the information. I noticed that you are located in Wallkill, NY. I used to race dirt bikes there back in my youth. I'm originally from across the River in Hyde Park, NY. :D
