My father recently passed. Was employed at Schrade for many years, and had alot of knives.
He was good friends with the president, who gave him knives all the time. Now that he is gone, I have them.
I'm going to try attaching a list of my first box, (there are three),.
I love to hear about the history, as I can relate to some of it. As a small kid, my father would take ne through the shop all the time. I got to see all of the production from stamping the blanks to hand buffing the backs, and then some. Other than the marks on the tangs, I have a hard time telling when they were made, so any help is appreciated. Some of mine have sat in boxes for so long, the bolsters are discolored. Ive not tried to clean them, I dont want to ruin anything!
List to follow...

Sounds like a great collection. It might be good to pay to have Bernard Levine appraise them so you know exactly what you have. He also sells knives for clients and writes for Knife Magazine. He has a sub-forum here on BF and his email address is accessible. Otherwise, it would be great to see some pictures.

Welcome! I look foreward to your list and hopefully lots of pics and stories. I am also from midcoast maine! I live in southern maind now

Mike who was your dad? I worked with a bunch of guys from Schrade myself among them the Buleys, Wally G. and Dave Swinden . Great people!

Well everyone will want pictures, and whatever details you can provide. Sounds like you've got a great start into a decent and interesting hobby if you want to keep at it. Welcome!
