i just got the schrade sch1850 bowie for my birthday and would like feedback on what other owners experience with this knife is like. for instance it looks like it's full tang but, then again the depth of the the base of the blade where the signature stamp is is different and more polished than the part that goes through the handle so it being full tang is questionable to me. feedback would be appreciated.

We thank you for your interest, and WELCOME Buck! However, we do not do Chinese knives on this subforum (just FYI).

This forum is dedicated to the original Schrade products, and your knife was made by a company that purchased only the Schrade name. I'll move this to the General Knife Discussion.

i had one. sold it to a friend who wanted something pretty for cheap. it's a decent display piece, but nothing i'd trust to use hard. kinda pretty and intimidating but not a user.

i contacted taylor brands about this particular bowie style knife as i had doubts as to it actually being full tang. first they sent me an email saying it definitely is full tang, and then about a month later i received a follow up message where they stated that after my question on whether the knife was full tang or not they took one of the knives and destroyed it to see if it was and that it is actually not a full tang knife. they did tell me not to worry about how sturdy the construction is and that it should hold up well if used as intended and that if it does break that most like likely it would have to be something that would void the warranty.
i guess that's fine with me but, the knife looked deceptively full tang and that is the only reason i bought it. i personally would rather have a knife that could hold up to batoning, and other survival purposes.
