This was 35 bucks. For another 8 or 10, I could have gotten an unused Queen serpentine jack. I think I'm over buying worn out knives because they used to be great, but-
This has one side darker than the other, a long crack on the lighter side, and an angled crack from the forward pin on the dark side. The main blade was a little bent (now slightly less so), causing a rubbing of the blades that interfered with walk and talk.
On the other hand, there's a lot of both blades left, and the main has straightened enough that the pen closes better. It's the sort of knife my dad always carried, except a little bigger than he liked. And I like the swedges on the main blade, and I think it's beautiful.
So I think I can trust this group to approve the purchase.

Great bone,Great blades, I would have grabbed it too. Not sure if you're into it but I have sealed thin cracks like that with the gell crazy glue. it fills the crack and stops it from running.

Best regards

Robin

Thanks, Robin. I used superglue, probably the same thing. Supposed to suck in by capillary action.

Certainly NOT A MISTAKE:thumbup: with beautiful bone covers, crack or no cracks. A wonderful equal ender that I would love to own and carry;)

You done good, you done real good:D

You paid way more than I would have for a used broken knife. But in the end you got it and I didn't, so you win this round. ;)

That's a beauty, Alnam.
Thanks, guys- it was more than I like to spend on a knife, but it's more knife than I generally come home with. I'm afraid there might be some causal connection there.

Heck no, I'd buy that any day of the week and twice on Sundays for $35! I think you did well. Sure, there's some room for improving the old gal, but that's part of the fun. Cracks or no cracks, you can't get bone like that just anywhere!

I would have picked it up in a second! Over here in Australia, knives tend to have ridiculous prices. I've seen worse pieces with no walk and talk, heaps of play and a lot of the blade gone from sharpening and they're still marked at least $50 or more.

I would have got both and taken the hit to my brownie point tally.

More support! I love this place.
I was having another bout of attempted logic just minutes ago: I have too many already, I don't need another. Logic don't enter into it. Grail knife on the way.
And the subject of this thread keeps growing on me. So much left of such an old knife that's clearly been well and wisely used. Sometimes an old one just reaches out and grabs you.
