I know these are older than the knives with the '+' stamp on them.

Obviously carbon steel blade, but does anybody know roughly the collectors value of these knives (without the '+')?

A friend has one and is in need of some $$$ so he has asked me to find out for him.

Any help appreciated guys...

BTW, posted this over at the schrade forum also, but, seemed a bit quiet so posted here too.

Hi Guy,

Honestly I don't believe it would carry a premium because of the different stamp. Although very good knives, most Schrade fixed blades don't have much collector value.

These sold in the States for around $35, and had a retail around $50 (I think it was 47.50):).

HTH:D:).

I have just picked up one of these models without the "+" in MINT condition for less than $40.00 from a fellow forumite. I also have another forumite holding one until my payment arrives for about the same price. I love these knives, and now I will have two of them.

Guy,

I have one that I've carried and used since I was a kid, and honestly, in my opinion they are worth more as users than the slight collectors value they might have.

The Deerslayer is a fairly good size, no nonsense fixed blade that does what a knife is supposed to do--cut. And they cut very well. They take a whale of an edge and hold it well.

I've used mine on Deer, butchering cattle, and for various camp and food prep chores. They even do a decent job of chopping if you don't have something better around.

Take that sucker out and use it. That is what they do best. I think the Deerslayer was one of Schrade's most underappreciated models.
