A Schrade D’holder is for sale on eBay and listed as:

This is about the price a late numbered (500-1000) D’holder should sell for.
However after six eMails to the seller asking for its’ serial number, the seller has not answer my eMails.

Time and time again these Schrade D’holders come on eBay for sale “without serial numbers”

It's becoming hard to find Schrade knives that were sold before the Close Down.
The market is now being flooded by "Leftover Parts" :thumbdn:

G'day Ken, likely overrun held over for warranty...sellers are very adept at finding boxes/bling to add to the ""provenance"" of their knife.....I wouldnt even attempt to sell one of my genuine D'Holders 1 & 3..because of the thousands of $20 Chinese look alikes flooding the market....same with genuine pre -2004 clasps..has devalued them all...IMO..as discussed previously I have a very strong feeling Schrade boxes/bling have also been printed in recent times....too may variations from original box's......if there's a quick Buck to be made there's someone there to fulfill everyone's collector desires....Hoo Roo

It looks laget..if you look at the other items for sale it doesn't seem to be a the average faker. I think he,she,or it would do better if they left their hands out of the picture.

I have D’holder “flat” boxes that have never been made up.
I also have 12 D’holder zip-up Bags with the Schrade D’holder tags and 6 Lake & Walker Bags.
There is a lot of BLING about. Tins I have more Schrade tins then I can find sone place to put them.
As I said before, it’s geting hard for us Genuine Schrade Collectors that are not trying to make a quick buck..
I give knives away to Genuine Collectors that can not find a knife for their collection ..Ken

I assume you bought all this "bling" to keep it off the market right?

I bought all this bling becaust I am a "Collector of Schrade items made in the USA."

I do not sell anthing I have collected over the years unless I feel I can replace it with a better item.
I often give knives to other collector and I offten get knives from other collector (all witout money changing hands)
At present I have two knives I paid $60 each for and I could sell then today for $120 each - however, I know when my friend has more cash he will be knoking on my door to buy them back, at $60 each.

Knives are not the only thing I collect;
My will Stipulates that my collections are to be offered to Museums and Libraries as a gift, before any sale can be attempted.

I did not mean to offend... I just think the knife in question looks authentic. There are a lot reasons why sellers don't answer e-mails, just look at the other items for sale. But I find it ironic that a person would buy empty boxes, bags and tins , and then rant about someone selling a knife that may or may not be with the original packaging..... only because that person didn't answer six emails. they probably got freaked out after the 3rd one.

I believe that answering emails is part of the obligation of the seller, although a seller can get sick, have to leave town suddenly, etc. Most of the time there is probably not a legitimate excuse. One thing I see constantly is gross ignorance on the part of the seller of the item being sold. One practically has to walk the fellow through the complex procedure of measuring the knife, and anything else is a real struggle. There is a large component of gentlemen selling items who not only know nothing of the genre, but are functionally illiterate as well. Add to that is the fact that a lot of people do not have close-up vision. They really and truly cannot see the small features of a knife. And, sadly, these folks are really a microcosm of the macrocosm. This is a cross section of average human beings.

No serial number? One seller has an explanation:

There was to be 500 of these knives made as there was to be in all of the knives from the series, however due to the closing of the Schrade factory the 500 SDHO3's did not get completed.Schrade closed before this knife got the blade etched or numbered

True? Not true?

It's certainly possible, even likely, considering other unfinished knives I've seen that were rushed out the doors in 2004. I'd guess that only someone working on these D'Holder knives in 2004 at the Schrade factory could tell us for sure.

Upstream you did not offend me - Australians are very hard to ever offend.
I hope I do not offend anyone that reads this tread.

The knife in question looks to me to be authentic and I would like to buy it.
It has all the Bling and even “a box”.
I'm interested in the invoice that is showing and if the knife is numbered.
That is why I have tried to communicate with the seller.

By the way this is the second time this knife has been listed by this seller in the past week – with no bids!

I’m not "ranting about someone selling a knife that may or may not be with the original packaging..... "

I had to look up the meaning of the word "ironic" maybe you should look up the word "collector”
I believe sometimes a box is more collectable than the knife ! Have you ever seen a new knife box 100 years old ?

Have you ever had a milkshake and then thrown the paper container in the bin?
I have a “New unused milkshake paper and wax container” I’ve had offers of over $200 for it! It's VERY COLLECTABLE.
I also have an old Gold Licence dated 1853, the miners burnt all of them. I have had offers of over $2500 for that pice of paper!

.......and I dont think I've ever offended everyone...yet!.....
P.S. Ken you must have been a young boy when they issued that 1853 Gold Licence to you?......I curently have a 10 year Miners Right Licence here in Victoria...new one issued last month..if I die in the interim I will demand a partial refund for the unexpired period...!.I know my rights...I've already made a pact with Codger we will leave our debts to whoever goes last......Hoo Roo

Larry stop playing with your toys and answer your phone.
You bank balance is a little higher today, my first internet transfur.
The Gold Licence,I remember that well;
My father's father's father's father's farther's farther came to Australia in 1828 just 24 years before that licence was issued.

Not long after that there was the Eureka Stockade.
That old licence is a part of history now and will go to the Ballarat Museum, when I no longer need it hanging on my wall.
