Passed thru a bait shop and noticed a Schrade display stand with a few knives left in it. Do not remember which models but the prices were around 35.00.
How long ago did they stop making there knives ? Would they be worth picking up ?

That depends.....is the shop in Indiana? :) Schrade shut down their plant in 2004. Before you go buying the Schrades, make sure they're made in the USA. Depending on the model, $35 is a good price. If they're made in China, well, I'll let you be the judge.

The shop is in northern Minnesota. I,ll check them out...
Thanks for the reply..

maybe try to go in and take a picture of the display or something. then you can figure out what your looking for or write down what they have and look to see what kind of boxes they come in. joel

If they are in brown boxes, jump on em like a chicken on a june bug.

yea, watch out for china schrades. i found a old out of the way hardware store in northern ga., and as i was passing by, i seen a whole case full of schrades, my heart jumped and i raced in, only to find out they were all taylors!!! needless to say, the guy at the counter swore they were "real", but the little black stamps on the blade said "china", so i left without a knife and a broken heart!

Picked up 5 knives:
2= 834UH Ranchers one in grey/black box, one in blue box
1= 885UH King Ranch in grey box
1= 1940T Gunstock Rancher in blue box
1= 80T Senior in Brown box
All USA made
They have a fish fillet knife left in brown box

first off great find... Feels great dosent it. Now you've got the fever, You will be stopping in every hardware store, sporting goods store, farm supply store trying to find just one more. Really great find on the brown box knife people really love thoes. I collect the knives more than the boxes but Ive got a few. People just seem to pay a lot more for that brown box and they look great in a display. See I dont care that much about boxes because I plan to always keep my collection and I use most of them, granted I save every box cause you never know and it makes for a more complete collection and makes it easier to chart what you have and when you bought it and how much you paid. One more thing go get that damn fillet knife!! Even if you dont care much for a fillet knife you could use it for a trade to get something you like more. I cant find one of thoes fillet knives. Great start. - Joel
