I found what appears to be an old Schrade double locking switch blade with green celluloid handles and a closed length of 2 7/8". I can find the 3 3/8" lengths, or 2 7/8" without green handles. Does anyone know when this was produced? Wife found it in a garage sale sewing kit. The longer blade pops open great, the shorter blade pops open about 75%. Both locks work. Knife and blades are in rough shape. Is this one of those instances where you DON'T attempt to clean or sharpen and sell as is? Thanks for any information!

You could try lubricating it and removing any lint.
I don't think the value will be affected if you sharpen it, since it does not have the factory edge on either blade.
Can't talk value unless you are a Gold member or above.

Nice find. It is a lot like the knife my grandfather carried, but his was MOP or MOT.

I wouldn't do anything to that knife except lubricate it, especially if you're planning on selling it. If you sharpen it you'll be thinning the blades, even if slightly, and a potential buyer might be put off by it. Most collectors buy them for their collectible value and original condition, not to cut things with them, IMHO. The fuller the blades the better.
The knife is pattern number 7444. As far as the handles I'm not certain what they called that color, might be mottled blue. It was possible to order knives in different types of celluloid covers so the catalog might not reflect that exact one under the listing. You could look it up under Ebay's completed listings to get an idea of value. Nice knife!
