Levine's Guide to Knives 4th ed.(1997) on page 456 he shows a Schrade Extreme Survival knife (12 1/4' length), list $150, and a Schrade Multipurpose/ Adventure knife(7 3/8"), list $34.95.
i have not seen either of these on ebay or discussed here. does anyone here have one of these knives ?
there is a "new Schrade" BT01 Survival tool that is similar to the original Schrade Extreme Survival (i ebayed one for $0.01), not to be confused with the knives i am asking about. roland

I dont possess Levines book. On my corner page 4 I have new in Clampak the smaller version Extreme Survival and page 12, 2 versions of M7S.Are these the knives being discussed or am I off mark? Are you allowed to reproduce the listing in the book or is that against copyright?

Thanks Rusty for the links. i did search first and had read them, but it's always good to post in case i missed and for others too.
my post is to express surprise that Schrade made this kind of knife and that they have not been discussed here for a long time, and rarely show on ebay, so relatively rare ?
Larry those are the knives i am inquiring about; M7S; DBL2 and BT01. as the BT01 sold for $150, it must be quite a substantial knife and i'm hoping someone who owns one will post about it's quality and usefulness. roland

Absolutely agree Roland! it doesn't hurt to ask it's what keeps this forum running, also as those links were from some time ago.

Here is the Schrade Extreme SCBT02, I've also seen it referred to as the DBL2.
It's hard to show in a scan but the originals have USA stamped on the end of the handle near the tang. They are being reproduced in China.

a Schrade USA knife same as pic. above by Upstream, just sold on ebay. i was watching, but it went too hi for me.
the linked thread above says that this knife was developed with input from army explosives guys for specific use in their work and was produced and sent over to troops in Gulf War (Bush Sr. war, not present one).
survival type knives do not interest me particularly, but as these are Schrade, now i'm looking for them. that's havin' fun ! roland

The really nice one is the BT01 Bomb Tech knife, it has the flat tip and ruler on it. There are bunch of Chi-re-pros out there. The real ones were selling for over 100 bucks after the closing but I haven't seen many come up recently.

i have the China BT01, $0.01 on ebay ! so now i'm looking for the ORIGINAL, but hope to see one that everybody else misses.
i thought the BT01 was the Extreme Survival, and the DBL2 was the Bomb Tech ? roland

I thought I had a flyer or ad for the Extreme Survial knives but I can't seem to find anything rite now and they do not show up in the '04 price list. Maybe the Codge has some more info on them as far as production dates.

The Double Eagle DBL2 was produced, as mentioned in the linked posts, in 1998-2001. I think I gave about $50 for mine, then traded it to Robert Clemente for some traditional knives I wanted. Also as mentioned and shown in the linked photo, there were three varients made, the DBL2, the BT01 and M7. I've not researched these, so nothing has been conclusively written about them. Yet.

Great photos of Scotty's <Sam> knives he has some gems on Larry's site. Have been wondering where you are Scotty and havn't seen any recent posts mate....was it something I said???? ...usually is! Hoo Roo

I was in need of a large fixed blade knife. My Kabar was stolen. Searching the internet, I discovered the Taylor made BT01 {Bomb Technician 01 ?} at SMKW for seventeen dollars. I wasnt expecting much for that price. Forget the saw back, I have no use for it, the hammer and nailpuller. The blade impressed me. Much heavier than the USMC Kabar. Real sharp. Easy to hone. I dont know how such a beast can be sold for seventeen dollars and still be profitable, made in China or elsewhere. If the China origin doesnt turn your stomach, then I recommend this. But then again ,Im not an expert on knives.

dipbait, as i mentioned above, i have a China BT01 ($0.01, ebay, + $19.95 S&H), and i agree, it is a substantial, solid knife, but as a Schrade collector, now i am looking for the original. roland
