Silverladdie is Buzz Parker, son of the late Jim Parker. Being in the right place at the right time would be a vast understatement.

For the most part his knives end up being way overpriced, but he certainly is a master at putting a little extra jam on the bread, with his hilarious knife descriptions. I have made a few comments like this before. A few years ago I bought several knives from him, but since commenting about them in the forum (and suggesting possible shill bidders) I have since been banned from bidding on his Ebay Auctions. :foot: If they monitor the entire forum, I would suspect the banned list is quite long. Be careful what you say here.

Please define the term "shill bidders". Occasionally I have suspected that friends of seller or seller himself under different name is bidding just to drive up the price when they see someone wants something. This what ya mean? Thanks

That is shill bidding. People who bid early, and especially ones that stack several high bids on top of each other set them self up to pay a premium price.

On the other hand, despite my thinking, I do believe Silverladdie has a lot of people looking at his auctions, and before I was banned from bidding, picked up a couple of nice knives at a reasonable price too.

I can't speak to the shill bidding with this seller, but I do know it goes on on ebay, and can cost people a lot more money than a knife is really worth. Very sad.

I agree with Thawk about his auctions, though. He does have some nice knives. I have gotten probably a dozen from him that were all very nice, and I'm sure in some cases, not necessarily rare, but close to unique, and most at very reasonable prices. I check his store every so often just to see what he may have thats interesting.

i bid on one a 144 of his once and didn't read the description very well. i noticed some things i didn't like and wished i could take my bid back. then it went crazy and was very odd. the good news was they went over my max and i bet they got hung with it because it appeared later up for sell again.. with the same crack on the back of the shield..... wierd...huh

I bid on and ended up buying a copy of the Fourth Edition of Bernard Levine's fine book, which is the only knife book I own. The seller was a very large store, who sold a lot of literature. Somehow, he knew to the penny exactly what my maximum snipe bid was. The bid was high enough so that there was no question about something being fishy, as I ended up paying exactly my maximum bid. It was not an even or predictable dollar number. By the way, the "signed" copy did not have a single mark in it. But I needed the book, couldn't prove a thing, and any further action was not worth my time.

Lots of people find they have won an item at their maximum bid. It is in no way an indication of foul play. You could prove it by looking at the bid history and seeing if anyone retracted a bid that was higher than yours.

Hal, i'm surprised (shocked ?) that you have been banned by an ebay seller for what you have posted here, even though an accusation of schilling is "serious business".
i too have bought a few knives from this seller and have always been pleased with these deals. i rely on "knowing my knives" and go by the pics more than the descriptions, and also keep my bids "reasonable", knowing that he probably has more of the same to list in the future.
but, main point is: i had no idea these forums were being monitored.
