I hit pay dirt today at a small hardware shop near my apartment. They have a case full of at least a dozen different Old Timer and Uncle Henry patterns. The prices were pretty high(a full size UH stockman ran $40) but there was one that caught my eye. It was a small stockman like knife that had a clip main blade, a pen blade, and scissors. Would I be getting ripped off paying $24 for it?

Thats sounds like a good price for the 106OT or the 707UH which ever one it is. The 106OT had a msrp of 27.95 in 1990. They seem to be hard to find new in the box, some have sold for $40 or more on e-bay.
Good find, Rick

For a new in box with papers, that is a good price, whether it is a 106OT or 707UH. The 106OT was $29.95 in 1993, the last year it was included in the catalogs. The 707UH was sold for $28.95 in 1993, the last year it was in the price lists. The 707UH, "Gambler," only had a single pen blade, no clip blade, so I imagine what you saw was the 106OT, "Grandad."

Given the recent prices on ebay that Rick mentioned, I would say you got a good find.

If you are wondering what the new prices were on the knives you found, just send me an email and I will give you the most recent retail prices I have for the models you found. My email is; dalervincent@comcast.net

PS- I just checked my records and I paid $37.01 (with shipping) for a very good used 106OT several months ago on ebay.
