Most summer weekends I make a trip to a local flea market in search of fresh vegetables, tools, occasionally a new shirt, some houseplants and... Schrades. I usually strike out on the Schrades. Most of the knives are either imported junk, Case collectables, or reworked kitchen knives that were originally large butcher blades but now boning knives. Today I did luck out. I bought two knives cheap. The Sharpfinger is the Type 1 from the first year or so of production with thong and sheath intact. The 1980's Woodsman handle is rough, chalked, nicked, with blade scratching, patina, spotting and light rust around the tang, and came in a ??? sheath. So I figure it was a "gimme" on the deal since the total price paid was quite fair for the early Sharpfinger alone.

Oh... and I got fresh baby okra and homegrown maters too!

I try my fleamarket too but so far I haven't got that lucky.

I don't get lucky very often, maybe once or twice a year, but it is good exercise and I can congratulate myself on wise shopping whether I go home empty handed or with a knife. Now where did I put my box of Sharpfingers?

If I'm going to get lucky I want a Schrade-Loveless fixed blade...man those are beautiful knives!

Biting my tongue and letting it go! :D

Wise choice Bridgy-grasshopper, wise choice!:D

Several years ago I briefly interviewed Bob on his collaboration with Schrade, and he was very gracious and positive about the experience, as was D'holder. Check out his Schrade collaborations as well!
