I received a set of Schrade knives for CHRISTMAS and just was wondering if they are collectables> They are bicentennial whittlers commemorating Kentucky and Tennessee.

If these are the two I think they are, they are whittler patterns and were made for Parker Frost and are limited editions of 3,000 each. Yes, they are collectable. There were also sets of stockmans made in 1978 limited to 1.200 pieces each.

My wife got these knives from a local dealer who said he had purchased them back in the 70's and had forgot he had them. They are in the original case with sleeve. Both are engraved: one tennessee whittler, the other kentucky whittler and they both have a draw string felt cover to put them in. Would you have any idea what they may be worth? or would you know where I could find out. She thought she got a real deal in them.

Mr. Bernard Levine and others do knife appraisals for a fee. I think his is $25. I would say you could watch eBay for ended auctions to get an idea, but these sets don't come up very often.
