Any idea how much this knife sold for retail. I am bidding on one on ebay, item number 6606051993. I don't have to have it and was wondering what my max will be. Thanks.

Not sure what the Heritage 897s sold for but it is a sharp looking knife. I would probably go to 30 bucks if I wanted it bad enough. I think the 897UH sold for about that much. The 897 has become one of my favorite knives to carry. Maybe some of the experts will cime in before the end.

Thanks. That is about what $$ I had in mind. I really like this knife but not sure how much yet. Will post status later on winning bid.

You have to be careful there is alot of junk floating around on e-bay these days. I thought I read here somewhere that the Haritage series were special editions with bone handles so it may be worth more, I really don't know any thing more then what I have learned here.
It would be nice to see the stamp, you may want to ask the seller what it reads. As long as it is a USA made kinife you should be happy with it.

I have been burnt a few times but not for very much money. I try to only purchase from those I have done business with in the past. But sometimes we just roll the dice. I also don't really know where else to feed my sickness for Schrade knives, everything around here either I have bought up or someone else beat me to it. Dry as the desert sand. I will ask about the tang stamp. Thanks.

There was a bone handle heritage series in the early 80s, about 7 knives, all very nice. Then, in the last few years there are some new knives floating around with (from what I've seen) red and yellow sawcut delrin handles. These too are nice, but they are no nicer than, say, regular OTs or UHs. The subject knife is of the latter variety. The new Chinese stuff may also be using the name (I think I've seen some), and if so, buyers will have to be very careful.

Note that the old bone ones are quite common on ebay and don't seem to command very high prices. IMO these are among the best Schrade deals around. Check out 6606075026. These pics are not so good: 6603107195, 6603107195, and 6603096365. Here's one that hasn't closed yet: 6600179447.

Well, I was the winning bidder for $23.50, I believe a fair price. The best part is the seller only lives 15 min. down the road and I am hoping I can pick up some other knives from him without shipping charge. Once again thanks to everyone for all your help. Being so new to Schrade collecting I value all of the sound advise I get from everyone on the forum, which I consider the best in the world.

It looks like the seller has alot of other US made Schrades listed so you may get some good deals. Good luck
