Cowhorse, it just means that the ever vigilant Cougar moved you to this forum from the Bernard Levine forum cuz we're the Schrade guys. With that, I'm not sure when those were made. There was a bone Heritage series made in 1983, but I think yours were done closer to 200?. Someone will surely be along with a definite answer on one of your threads shortly:thumbup: :D

If it is new you got a good deal.:)
If it came in a box and with papers and is new you got a better deal.:D
If it is used a little you got an OK deal.
If it looks like crap with blade wobble and no snap you got screwed.:grumpy:

It would help a little if you gave a little more details. Does it have a leather punch and a serrated blade?

THat price included shipping, I forgot to mention the main blade says everlastingly sharp but it doesnt say Walden anywhere

This idea of how much is too much, what's a good deal, it's all very subjective. I guess it only matters if you're planning on selling it immediately to turn a profit.

I bought a similiar Schrade 889 (the Purina Mills SFO) for almost the same price - $27.80 a few weeks ago and I'm real happy with it. I wanted the large Schrade Copenhagen Stockman with the serrated blade and the awl or punch, but they've been going for over $50 - $60 for the last two years, and I just don't think that a derlin handled stainless stockman is really worth that much (to me). So, I found the exact same knife, made by the same manufacturor for what I think is a fair price.

Here's the ENDED eBay Item number: 290118546810

and here's a link to some more info on the pattern:

As far as value goes - I've heard other guys say it, and I believe it myself, buy what you like. Pay what you think is fair. If you can't find it at that price, keep looking.

Best Regards,
Kevin

Thanks to you all for all your help. All comments were greatly appreciated. I usually do a search on Yahoo to find a knifes value before bidding. I usually only collect new knives not old used ones. I try to buy mostly USA or German made. Atleast while there is a few of the new ones (old stock) left out there. Still learning here but its become a passion or obsession with me lately. Might have to go to knife counseling or rehap!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im up to about 60 new knives and had already sold off about that same amount. Problem is as time goes by my tastes get better and my expenditures go up. What the hey, they are a good investment if you buy the good ones.
Thanks Again, Cary ( Cowhorse01 )
