I just got my Knives Illustrated Magazine - Issue: December 2001, Volume 16, No. 6, and on page 18 saw a pocket Shrade multi-tool called Schrade i-QUIP.

Tried looking up Shrade website for more info but can't find any. Is this (i-QUIP) available now or that article is just a product introduction for future production?

Nice little multi-tool. :)

I want to know too. Talk about the ultimate in gadetry. Me wants one!

More info please. Where and when and how much?

I can't imagine anything better than their Tough Tool® but I'll be looking out for this one as well.

=============================

I'm not surprised. :(

Information on the i-QUIP will be on our web site shortly. In the meantime, I have attached an information sheet below. The new Schrade i-QUIP, Intelligent Equipment for the Outdoors, is the ultimate gear that contains today's finest mobile electronics, with common sense "tools", that help to tackle all outdoor (and indoor) challenges. Mobile electronics "computer module" contains altimeter, barometer, digital compass and more! The i-QUIP also contains cutting blade, Phillips and flathead screwdrivers, scissors, saw, cap lifter, can opener, cork screw, LED flashlight, signal mirror, whistle, lighter compartment, belt clip. The suggested manufacturer's retail is $250.

It's in limited distribution, and can currently be found at Cabela's (1-800-237-4444) (their item # is set #514978) and A.G. Russell (1-800-255-9034).

We were notified last week, that the i-QUIP won a design and engineering award from Popular Mechanics and will be featured in the December issue. Also, look for it in the November/December issue of National Geographic Explorer.
