Hello everyone !!,
Went out pawnshopping this holiday and turned up with three knives,
but since I am new to this I dont know much about them ! :p
I bought two schrades in a 3 blade stockman style which say "razor edge" on the blade with a picture of a razor blade just below it.
The pawnshop guy told me they were from the 60's , but a friend said they were from 2000 ! He thought they were part of a limited edition which came in a cigar box, but they have no numbering on them. I also bought a nice Browning made in Germany with wood handles. Any info as to the value and collectability of these knives would help. Oh, I paid $40 OTD for all three. All three are in mint unused condition. The blade tang is stamped:

"Schrade
Walden
NY USA"

Thanks,
Ram

Schrades with that blade etching (with the razoe blade) were introduced in 1965 and were in production at least into the mid 70's. Yours have the older thang stamp with Walden, so they predate 1973. Value may be in the range of $25 each because the newer Schrades with delrin handles just have not appreciated much.

I can't help with the Browning.

Thanks for the info. Honestly, the knives are not well built because the
blades look like they were finished by a child ! The shape of the blades
are not very good. It almost looks like someone hand shaped the blades.
The blades are original from the factory later because you
can still see the grind lines. I may just trade them off for a nicer knife.
The only plus is that they have an incredible edge on them !!!
Thanks again

Hello everyone,
here is a link to the Schrade knives I was talking about in this
trend. Please excuse some of the blurry images. Given the pictures,
are these knives from the 60s-70s era ?

Thanks,

I would make a suggestion Ram.....

Post this in the Schrade Forum ( in Manufacturers ), as there are several very knowledgeable collectors who can probably help pin these down for you. They love this stuff!! Just a suggestion.

I have a 1964 Schrade catalog and it lists those knives and shows the displays and packaging....a note in the catalog says that they will be available in 1965.

They used the "razor blade" logo to help the general knife buying public to accept stainless steel in pocket knife blades. Stainless steel razor blades had recently been introduced by Wilkinson. Several other manufacturers Case and Camillus also did about the same thing at the same time.

The "Schrade Walden" tang stamping was dropped in about 1973 when the corporation changed its name to "Schrade Cutlery Corp" From Schrade Walden Cutlery Corp.

So, my knife collecting friend was just trying to down play the age
of the knives ! Well, I still traded with him for a nice bulldog sowbell
stockman knife. I did keep the smaller of the Schardes, but he sure
tried to talk me out of it instead of the larger one. Thanks again
for all the info !!
