Schrade knife question

I recently purchased a Schrade knife that has "Schrade+ USA SC503" on the blade. However, the handle is a regular Delrin Old Timer. Is this a factory error? There is no evidence that the handle nor blade has been replaced. All the SC503 knives I have seen have Scrimshaw handles.

Hi zonaman, Welcome to BF.. There is a Schrade collectors forum in the manufacturers section. You might get an answer quicker if you post your question in there. There are a lot of knowledgeable Schrade folks in there..
