Is there a limit on how many question a newbie can ask LOL.
So whats up with the LB-8 with the LB-7 blade with the Schrade+ tang stamp. This knife was got years before Schrade went out of business.
It has the same tang stamp as this one.

This was very common on the first LB-8 run. The only difference between a LB-7 and LB-8 is the handle material. The first LB-8 came out in 1982, two years after the LB-7 was introduced.

The Elbeeseben was introduced in 1978. If I am remembering correctly, the first use of the Staglon molded covers on the knife was on the Dixie Edition sets, some of which were dated also 1978. They still had the LB-7 tang stamps.

Seconded. These first ones (Christmas 1978) and the 1980 "Dixie Collection" sets were all four-pin "LB7" stamped versions. By the time the LB8 "Grizzly" was first introduced as a catalog item in 1981 (with "LB8" stamping) it had the three pin configuration. A three pin staglon handled knife with "LB7" stamping would be a bit of an oddball and make me wonder if it's an "End-of-Days" knife from 2004.

I wish the original pics hadn't have disappeared. Is "Uncle Henry" stamped on the knife in question in the OP?

when i get a chance i will go down to the basement where my collection is housed (sounds important that way, eh?). i think i have a LB 8 four pin with LB 7 blade and it is serialized. if and this is a big if my memory serves me the first LB 8's came out with the LB 7 blade and were serialized which continued on with the three pin version and LB 8 on blade. made it down to basement (the reason having difficulty doing that have broken both my bones in lower left leg and have a non-walking cast on). looked at my collection and i do have a 4 pin serialized LB 8 with LB 7 blade. serial number 1371. my next one is a three pin serial number 74644 and it has LB 8 on blade. just a conjecture on my part, but i think the 4 pins might all be LB 7's with staglon handles? anyone else have a 4 pin with a LB 8 blade?

Interesting... four digit serial implies official "LB8" for sure. It appears some of the very first official LB8s did escape from the factory with LB7 blades. I stand corrected! Thanks for taking the time to look into this Delmas.

how about an LB8 with rosewood handles instead of staglon?
did they ever come out of the factory like this, or is this perhaps a custom/repair job where an LB8 blade was put into an LB7 handle?
saw this LB8 at auction & just wondering...
hope your leg has healed up delmas2nd!

yep finally made it back to work last night, yeah! gave my answer in the LB 7 thread to your question. well not really answer just a best guess on my part.
