I have a Schrade LB7 which is one of my favorite knives...it's gorgeous!

Now for my question....
I've been casually looking on eBay for others that may sell cheap (slip through the cracks) and see some that are listed with 4" blades. I've measured mine and it has a 3 3/4" blade.

Did Schrade change their blade lengths at some point or are people just being a little loose in their measuring? One I was looking at had a serial number beginning with an "R", if that helps any. Any insight would be much appreciated!

Best regards,
Chili

That's a nice one you got there. As far as I know the blade lengths are 3 3/4. The only difference in blades was the type of grind or if the blade was notched at the rear. Your Schrade + w/o the Uncle Henry signature tells me it was produced sometime in the mid to late 1980's. I would like to know more myself and this is the place to find some very good info.

That is what I thought too, but seeing a lot of them on ebay advertising a 4" blade. And yes, this place is great!

I've seen those auctions with the 4" blade descriptions, and I just figured the seller estimated the measurements. You have a nice one; the U.S. Schrade LB types are my go-to knives for everything. I look on ebay for them occasionally too.

thx - cpr

I concour with the others. I have examples representing the earliest production through the last and while there were some minor production changes (cover pins, etc.) the overall blade length stayed the same excepting some very minor variation due to blanking dies and grinds.

Thank you all. That helps make things much clearer!
