I have a Schrade LB 7 that has a model number of LB7ES. How can i find out when this knife was made?

Jerry, welcome to our forum!
I have seen that suffix ES on Schrades, for some reason right now cannot recall what it meant. Something we should have down here in the forum.
I'll bump this to the top here in hopes one of our forum members will see and answer your question.

I've seen this suffix too,but at present am clueless. This forum usually gets to the bottom of things though.
Jerry,Welcome to BladeForums and the S.K.C.Forum. :D

Don't let this guy :jerkit: scare ya'.He's new here. :D

Hi Jerry. I have a couple of weird LB7's, but haven't encountered an ES model. These guys are pretty good when it comes to identifying the lesser known variants. What kind of handle material does your knife have? Is there a serial number on the bolster?

On the blade is stamped SCHRADE+ USA LTD. The handle is stag (real). I have many UH knifes with Staglon handles and i can tell the handles are not Staglon. Brass bolsters and thats about it.

I got it, I got it... ES-Extra Special :D
I have no clue, really!

Ahhhh.. like a good laxative, as LT might say! There is a good chance that you have an LB7EuropeanStag knife. Schrade usually had some real world reasoning behind those alpha suffixes and prefixes. They might also have issued some Endangered Species scrims.

I have a couple of screwy LB7's and am at a loss when it comes to identifying some of them. This knife has saw-cut Delrin scales with an Old Timer shield. The blade is marked:

Uncle Henry
Schrade+
LB7 USA

This particular knife did not come from the final days of Schrade, it's much older than that and is just plain old wrong:

That is almost definately a 7OT frame with an LB7 blade! Odd indeed! To quote LT once more, with Schrade, "all things are possible"!! Still a nice unique knife.

The Stag comes in different shades and some is burned to give it that rich amber color. I have 3 or 4 LB7's with Stag handles but they all have nickle silver bolsters, I've never seen one with brass. Can you post a scan of your knife? I'd be very keen to see it.

Jerry Berry, I'm determined to find an answer to your question. I've contacted another Schrade man, and I will report anything I find out.
Thanks again for bringing us a question, this is how we all learn. With a factory rep (or even a factory), it's hard to find some info.
