I just purchased a Schrade lb8 in like new condition at a flea market it has been customized by a knife maker by custom filing the back of the blade . He done a beautiful job on it . I have been looking for any information on the lb8 knife but everything is really vague about the lb8 . mine has a serial # on one of the bolsters that is 59522 I have been trying to find out about the approximate age of the knife but from what I gather Schrade did not keep any records . Does anyone have anyway of finding out about these knives ? Also were there any that may have been factory customized ?

Welcome to Blade Forums !
I had an LB5, and LB7 back around 1980, and the USA Schrade's were very good knives.
I would think yours was customized after it was bought, but I'm not positive.

We have a Schrade room here(link below), and you would have better luck posting there or in Bernie Levine's forum linked below.
A member named Coudger_64 will help you in the Schrade room. He knows more about Schrade than anyone I know.
Good luck.

A LB-8 is just a LB-7 with the off white Delrin scales instead of wood. Late 80s to early 90s if I remember right. I know my old room mate bought one in about 87 to 88 before I got married.
