Schrade/Loveless Drop Point

Can anyone tell me exactly what steel Schrade used in the production of the above knives? The one I acquired is marked PH-1, is marked SCHRADE + USA, and has black Delrin? scales. It has L.L. BEAN etched on the blade. I know Bob loved and used 154-CM. I'm just hoping Schrade didn't decide to go to something like a 420-series stainless. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Depending upon the year, 440A or 420HC.

The way I understand it is that there were some early Loveless Schrades that were not marked with the "+", and that those may have been 154.....but if it does have the "+" it's a plain Jane.

The first ones may have had Burgundy colored handles and there is some writing that those might be 154, but the black handled ones are Schrade + Stainless steel.
