I have seen knives called Schrade Lovelss. (PH 1 &2 Loveless)
I have even seen "Duck knives" with wooden handles called Loveless type knives.:confused:
Who is or was Loveless? When did Schrade start using the name Loveless?
How many Loveless knives did Schrade make? and When were they made?
Do they sell often in the US? and;
What $$$ value would be a ball-park price to pay for an early Schrade Loveless knife? ... Ken:

A little info.
Uncle Henry 1st contacted Bob in 1967 but was rebuffed. Henry got him to NY in 1971 where they struck up a deal. Bob drew an example of what he had in mind on the back of a menu which I have posted in the past which was very similar to the knife produced. It took them a few years to develop the 1st Loveless knife mass produced. 3600 were ordered for 1975 with the first 2000 delivered in May. Dave Swinden was heavily involved in the design and manufacturing processes of the Loveless knife. After the contract expired or was cancelled(looks to be a bit of a story there), Schrade sold the knife as the PH1 and later the PH2.

Thank You Upstrem and Irv and Larry for the information... Ken

Highly desirable collaboration Schrade collectable Ken especially after Bob Loveless passed on in recent times. I see you just secured a beautiful example for $190 complete with original purchase receipt in 1976 and box and bling on Ebay..<least I think thats you with that many feedbacks!>...I sold identical several years ago for about $800/$900 from memory on Ebay to New York collector after Bob Loveless had passed away..<I remember sending the sale link to lrv at the time>....you did well with that one especially as the general opinion is that Schrade knives are continuing to appreciate......I used to have 4 however now have just one absolute mint very low production number....I see your serial number is in the mid 2000's so that ties in with lrv's comment re 3600 total production....now is the time to buy rather than sell, the higher commanding value Schrade knives as they are not bringing what they were...same with my Schrade Walden Adolphus Busch for less than US$120 recently..used to bring considerably more...$200 now seems to be the great leveller as the most that can be achieved on average for these higher end value knives IMO....I've been following Ebay Schrade prices for some 9 years now............ Hoo Roo

He certainly was one of the best, his designs have been copied by scores of makers. Apparently still has a worldwide following as I sold one of his 1971 catalogs to a fellow in Japan last August for over $200. Never figured it would go near that high.

It definitely took longer than expected to develop the Schrade version. The small guard couldn't be pinned, blades were hollow ground, etc.

I have just received my first Schrade Loveless knife.
No one told me this was a bigger, heaver and much better built knife then the look-a-likes that came after it, like the PH1 and 2.
This is a knife I will proudly display with my collection...
