Picked up this Schrade Loveless PH1 (correction RL2) in a pawnshop last year. Someone made a custom sheath for it but they didn't have the original. The blade and handle are in good condition but looks like someone tried to polish the brass bolster because the serial number is only faintly visable. It's there but hard to make out the actual numbers.

I read several older threads about its history and saw it in my Loveless Knifemaking book. This one looks to be one of the original series. Any idea it's value.

Hi from Australia.
That is a nice knife. However, it is not a Schrade PH1. (Pro Hunter)

Your knife is a "Schrade-Loveless RL2" - The original Loveless knife made by Schrade in 1976. (RRP $100)

Mr. Loveless, while talking about designing the “Schrade - Loveless knife”; sketched the knife on the back of a menu.
This was at "New Wolfie’s Coffee House (New York City) dated 21/9/1971". I have a copy of that menu:

Value of knives on this forum is a NO NO However, they are worth collecting.
And the sheaths sell for under $10 by a seller on AAPN. (Same as the PH1 sheath)

The next Schrade - Loveless knife, was a CH2 (Custom Hunter) Its' RRP was $75. Ken

This is the original receipt for one of my RL2 knives # 2572.

This flyer came with the paperwork, in a long black box.

This is my only Pro-Hunter - PH1. Overall it is a larger/longer knife.

Wow, that's a wealth of info and I appreciate you sharing. It's nice to know what it is. I bought it on a whim as I mostly collect custom knives. I'm not planning to sell it but I would like to know if it has any real value, even a range. I understand the prohibition of asking knife values but i think that only applies to non-paying members starting such a thread. I believe (mods correct me if I'm wrong) that as a platinum member I can ask to see if anyone knows. Anyone with such info is free to share.
Again, thank you for taking time to fill in the history of the Schrade Loveless line.

The PH1 is a lovely knife. I sharpened one for a friend, who promptly lost it hunting.......

Always liked them.

I have three RL2 knives, all NIB.
I have been told they sold for big $$$ after 2004. as much as $800 by non-collectors thinking they would make money after Mr Lovelock passed away.
However, I have never payed over US$200 for any of my loveless knives; and I have seen them sell for a little over $150..

You will find a sheath her. Brown was the right colour...Ken

If you like the Loveless knives; I think you would also like the Schrade-D'holder, made by Schrade back in 2000
