Someone has been playing with the etcher is my guess. I've seen those, but declined to even contact the seller. Maybe you could ask Mr. Taylor about them. We've been told he is a swell guy and is very approachable.

Michael, that statement is a direct insult to the senior member of this forum. There was no reason for you to write that and I resent it. Count this as reason number 2 I've been out of here.

And while I'm at it, reason number three is the constant bashing of Stewart Taylor. We have all had a little fun with it in the past, but it's a dead horse that has been kicked enough.

Check the post by Larry303 for reason number one. Funny guy, that Larry... He thinks I am the new guy here.

A very Freudian post Phil. I was not refering to a "Senior" member at all, but to one of TBLLC's "I am not a dealer / I am a dealer" guys. I did not add a bash to my post, but suggested that the person questioning the origins of the knife, more specifically the etch, contact Mr. Taylor himself and find out if someone monkeyed with his product after market, or if it was done per his SFO with the manufacturer.

Phil, I thought I understood your need to step away from this place for awhile, that's something we all need to do from time to time. It looks like you have many reasons for not posting, but have returned for only one reason, to insult other members. I have always had the highest respect for you, but this recent behavior saddens me.

If you have determined that you no longer like this place, that's fine, but don't take it down with you. It looks like you want to air out something that's eating at you so I suggest you take this opportunity to get it all out now.

Phil,I agree with William.I've not posted about your treatment of Larry because I thought you may have been having a bad day. That doesn't seem to be the case.I hate to see the way your acting because you,LT, and Codger were a big part of what makes this forum the best of all.I don't understand your recent change but I will say if you don't like us anymore why bother to come here. Why should we change just for you.As our Mod you did a great job and if this forum wants you back I think I can find another to go to.As far as Taylor why don't all of you who think he is such a hero start another forum for all the poor souls who bought his junk.Sorry Phil but your wrong to come here and bash us.Arnold

Thanks you guys for a bit of support,I cant see how any of my posts were offensive in any way and was really starting to enjoy my stay here...I thought Texas came out with 'both guns a blazin' simply because I'm an Aussie.....I was fully aware Texas was an old member from my research of your old posts for information however had no idea when or why he left the forum..we obviously need every bit of experience contributing and surely Texas would be an asset.....by the way Texas thats 3 reasons you have left.....how many more reasons mate,is it a six shooter you pack. Hoo Roo from Oz.

When I first joined this forum almost a year ago it was a very mellow place where people went to great pains to help one another. Members were excited about Schrade products and about collecting them.

I personally have been the recipient of a great of knowledge that members of the forum freely shared with me. This included research, phone calls, packages in the mail with instructions on how to make a sheath, knives freely given, knife blanks, knife making material (brass), and a host of other things freely given.

I am saddened to see that we have lost two of our most knowledgeable & generous members and the tone of the forum seems to have soured. I used to look forward to the humor of many of the posters and the good natured kidding between members. The good nature seems to have vanished and the tone of some posts are vicious. Please understand I am NOT referring to any one individual, just the overall tone of the forum. Instead of being the first place I check in the morning & the last place check before going to bed, it has become a place I almost dread to check because of the overall negative feeling I get.

Perhaps it is time I too took a break. I have found a couple other forums that do not leave me with the negative feelings, and I must admit recently I have spent most of my time there.

At one time we had the best place on the web to learn about Schrades, no the best place anywhere to learn about Schrades. It was fun, benevolent, and informative. It can still be informative but the fun and benovalence appears to be in short supply. I have met a lot of people here whom I still consider to be my friends. It saddens me when my friends cannot get along.

Just my 2 cents,
Dale

all the b.s. aside, dale has a point. if someone feels they dont want to be here, they dont like the comments someone makes, or they just dont like certain people. move on. i love this forum, it is a way for me to relax while i am here at work and it takes my mind off my problems with my daughter. i enjoy reading what others write, and i dont mind some ribbing, joking, and just plain fun. dale is right, the overall feel here is like standing on a frozen pond waiting for the ice to break. come on guys, this should be a site for friends to meet and discuss knives, not turn on each other. everyone has different opinions and everyone is entitled to them. it seems that there is alot of animosity b/w a few of our members, and i think its time to either shake hands and make up or else just let it be water under the bridge. i like to have fun here, learn new things, and i enjoy EVERYONES different posts. it doesnt matter what was, but what will be. its time to bury a few hatchets, and keep this foum for what it was designed for. i think the overall opinion is, if someone isnt happy here, move on. life is to damn short to be diplomatic, ask my 5 yr old little girl. i aint rich, i aint got much at all, and i have to be honest, since this whole mess with my little girl, most of my friends wont come around and wont even call. alot of the guys she used to call uncle have run and hidden since she got sick. they tell me they cant see her like this, but hell they wont even speak on the street and now about the only friends i have are the ones on here. so i dont appreciate anyone coming in here badgering or bullying anybody around. this is a forum for discussions, not childish games and b.s. i consider each and every person on here my friend. i hate theis crap has happened, and i wish some would swallow thier pride and realise that they are liked here, they are wanted here, and they need to just live and let die. its time for the bullshit to stop.

dale, i enjoy your psts greatly, and i wish u would reconsider leaving here. i understand how u feel, and i know exactly what u mean, but i do wish u would reconsider.

codger, keep the info coming, i need it and alot more do too!! i for one appreciate your posts.

phil, i miss your posts, i found u to be a witty, intelligent person. i would love to see more posts from u, would love to have things the way they were around here. u are missed here, and i dont know and dont care about what happened, but i do wish u would return and contribute to these forums.

lets all try to keep the peace here and act like adults!! come on guys, ya'll know its fun in here, and it can be funner. i for one appreciate everyone here. u are all my friends, lets drop all the drama and learn and love schrades.

kris

hey larry i`m an aussie , i don`t collect schrades and they tolerate me posting here . mind you i am interested in schrades

Kris,
I am here this morning & appreciate your post, However I don't anticipate being on the forum too much this week. Too many doctor appointments & jury duty. The break is probably a good thing.
If I can make a positive contribution to this forum, OK. But I am tired of people putting other people down.......it just isn't fun any more. If my hobby of knife collecting is not fun then I will sell my collection and concentrate on making knives.

Dale

I agree with most of the few posts above me, but while I really would love to have things the "way they used to was", I have absolutely no intention of leaving or taking a break or anything else that would remove me from the knowledge and information and kinship afforded by this forum. Fight, rumble, grumble or do anything else you want, but I'll still be here to joke with you and to rib you and just have a good time. I have not found anything the least objectionable from our Aussie brothers, if taken IN CONTEXT, and in the spirit of their meaning. I also took Codger's post above much differently from Phil's idea of what he said. I took it to mean that if you really want the first hand info that Stewart Taylor would probably be easy to approach and his word would probably be the very best information concerning the question at hand. I personally got no inference to any one other than that. Any way I'm going to be here to particicpate as usual regardless of what happens, because it's just too important for me to "walk away". I do agree, however, it's time for the water to "be under the bridge" and forget the whole mess.

i do understand dale. i have been keeping busy with my daughters appointments and such, so i know how it goes. the thing with me is, i love visiting this forum. it has added so much fuel to my fire of collecting, and the folks here for the most part are just awesome. i am like u, i dont like all the bashing and bad-mouthing. i have never viewed this forum as anything but a place to talk schrades, and maybe do some b.s.ing while we are at it. i do not understand how some are holding grudges for nothing. the world is a small place, and it can be cruel sometimes, folks need friends and allies. i am honored to recieve as much info on knives as i can get. i dont know it all, nor do i claim to. so whenever someone offers advise, details, or just general info, i listen. i dont care if a person is from australia, egypt, or indiana, if they are a knife collector, then they are in a brotherhood of others. thats how i view all of us on here, kinda like a brotherhood. i love reading posts all week, then on the weekends going out looking for those elusive schrades, or trying to find one like somebody posted cause it tickled my fancy. i am not here to critisize, put down, or just cause trouble. i am here for the fun, friends, and info. i would love for u to stick around here, i wont be going anywhere until i am told to. as long as there are still some of us on here who knows how to enjoy this forum for what it is for, then we are not wasting our time. if some dont want to join in or be a part of it, to bad. i have quite a few newbies on here, and i say WELCOME ALL!! lets keep this forum fun, kind, and a friendly atmosphere. dale i hope u do stick around, and i do wish some of the ones who have "exiled" themselves will come back. this is a fun hobby(obsession!!!), and thats why we are here, to discuss knives, not brow-beat or step on toes. good luck at the docs, and give'em hell on that jury duty!

kris

sounds good paul. i say lets put this ugly mess behind us and continue on with what we are here to do, talk schrades!!! so lets get past this and get on with it! also, i am collecting donations for the "KRIS RELIEF FUND". i am accepting all schrades that anyone wants to donate to me, it will offer relief to my wallet!!! u can contact me for any donations u wish to contribute!! ;)

Freudian my ass, Michael. My statement stands.

I'll resume my vacation from this site. The heart and soul has been ripped out of this forum anyway. It's an empty vacuum of minutia and secret sources and silly questions and endless complaints about Stewart Taylor. To those newbies here who think that only facts and figures explain the full story of Schrade, you are mistaken.

I don't know some of you people posting in this thread, so I will simply ignore you and your comments. To some of you older timers... and there is damn few of you here to post about anything anymore, I offer my regards and wish you well. Don't confuse that with any sort of an apology for making a scene.
