First of all I just have to say that it was a shame that Schrade went away. It was my first pocket knife back in the day given to me by my grandfather.

But I digress,
Does anyone know if another company is going to pick up the rights for the Schrade tool? I have used on for the past 8 years or so (when they were still made in the USA) it is an awesome tool.

The pliers are huge, they feel like a full sized one in your hand, the head is made up of 3 layers of steel per jaw.

The design of how the other blades are stored is in my opinion the best out there. You can access any tool whith the pliers folded. In addition to that, when cranking down on the handles, you are not griping any of the blades backs. It is a flat contoured handle.

Now, I will be the first to tell you that the blades could use some serious revisions, but for what I needed, it has always been there.
I just wish someone like SOG could buy the patents for the basic pliers/tool layout, add their adjustable bolt contruction for tightening or replacing specific blades, and get rid of a couple of the useless accessories.

Oh well, just thought I would whine some today. I do have a SOG on order, should be here in a month or 3.

Cheers.

I was a big fan of the Schrade line. I had their first multi, then went on to the ST-5E, which I thought the world of. I know that Schrade knives are being made overseas now, but I'm not sure what (if anything) came of remaking multitools.

I have had and/or given out as gifts most of the major brand multi's out there. About 7 years ago I bought 2 Schrades. One with the leather pouch one with the nylon. I gave one as a gift and kept the other. Both are still in action and personal favorites to their respective owners. I can say that about no other brand of multi I've dealt with. I recently saw that they are now being made in China. Too bad, it will only dilute the outstanding workmanship & history of this tool.
