Is the the Schrade North American Hunting Club 75th Anniversary numbered folders worth any more than standard lock back Schrade Folder? The one I have has a little NA Hunting Club Medal in the wooden handle scale, the blade is etched with 75th Anni emblem and the knife is numbered on the pivot bolster and comes in a wooden presentation box.

Deon, this is just my opinion, based on my own experiences. Your knife was a 'private' limited edition by Schrade, commisioned so to speak by the NAHC. Schrade did these 'privates' for a lot of different clients, and those clients sold or gave away the knives as they wished.

Some 'Privates' seem to do better than others. I'd pay a bit more for one marked LL Bean, Adolphus Busch, or 'Village of Ellenville', but that is just me. Ducks Unlimited members pay much more for Schrades celebrating that organization than I would. And I have no interest at all in a Schrade marketed by the Universary of Alabama.

To a dedicated member of the NAHC, trying to assemble a complete collection, yeah, he would pay a more. The average Schrade collector?? Well, what do you other guys think?

Good listing of many (be impossible to know just all of them) of the Schrade limited editons, commemoratives, private limited editions, in Bernard Levines Guide to Knives and their Values, forth edition.

In case your all interested in the knife in question.
Here is a picture of the my 75th anniv NAHC knife. Its actually a really beautiful display piece with real bone handles. The printing on the blade is done in a gold color. I picked it up in a group of knives on EBay 2 years ago. I paid less than 40.00 for the group. Since then Schrade went O.O.B. and I've seen these knives go for >70 each. HAve you seen what a good LB8 is bringing these days?

Wow! Serves me right for not knowing what the knife was before I posted an answer. Shooting from the lip. Yeah... that one I'd pay a premium for. Thanks for posting the pic, Larry. If you have one of those, Deon, good for you!

Thanks Phil and Larry. It always amazes me how easy it is to get info this way. A few years a go I would not have been able to do that sitting here in South Africa.

My knife is similar but has wooden scales and the etching on the blade is black.

Larry thanks for the photo. You might show a photo of the box as well - the lid etching (or whatever it's called) is quite something to see.

thanks guys. :)

Deon hints at what I was going to say. Some of the private releases have 2 or 3 grades available. From what I've seen the higher grades appreciate at a greater rate than the lower grades. I have a National Park Service 75th anniversary folder of the lowest grade that, today is worth the retail price when it was sold new in 1991. The higher grades have done better since they have bone or stag handles and mine has synthetic.

Deon,
If you can, please post a pict of your knife. If you want me to post for you please email a pict or a few including the box to me. I do not have a box for my knife.

Many of the companies that contracted with Schrade came up with multiple selections. L.L.Bean for example put their logo's on the little SP2's and many others. The NRA did almost a full catalog by themselves.
