I bought this Old Timer the other day and was wondering about it. As far as I can tell the 1080T was first manufactured in 1963 until the close of the doors in 2004 of the US facility. This one had stamped on it:
Schrade
Walden
N.Y. USA
on the main blade.
I have seen many of these but never one stamped with Walden on it. Is it one of the early models? Is it worth anything from a collectors stand point?
I went to "the auction site" and most 1080Ts are around ten bucks but did not find any with this exact stamp.

It was manufactured before 1973 when the stamping was changed to reflect a company name change. It might have additional value to a collector over a similar used knife with later stamping, if the collector were looking for one regardless of condition. It's value to a collector, much as with coins, would be greatly increased if it were in factory-new condition, more so with the original packaging. The ten dollar ones you found, if new, were likely Chinese imports recently made for another company.

It is a nice knife and in pretty good shape for it's age.

Codger_64...thank you!
I am not very familiar the Schrade brand of knives and was looking around for some resources so that I could date them more accurately. I did a search here and found a few threads but not with any resource material, that I could use to further my knowledge of this brands particular stamping. I am guessing that it is not possible to date them, as with Case knives, to any exact date from the stamping? I am sure you would have told me already if it was possible. At any rate ...I bought it to admire/user and as a source for furthering my knowledge of the brand, but got to wondering its possible dollar value range.

You bought yourself an uncommon and intersting knife. It will serve you well, I am sure. We are not allowed to give values of knives in this forum to mom-paying menbers (as explained in the posted rules). The standard suggestion is to search the ended auctions on ebay for examples like yours (same condition and era) and look at the selling price. To be most accurate, look at the third highest bid.

tongueriver...thank you sir.

codger_64...thanks again and I am certain it will.

Note: Just read the Sticky...My apologies for not reading it earlier.

Not a problem Gevonovich. The Schrade Old Timer line is quite extensive and spanned many years of production. Each variant is interesting in it's own way. You have a good start there. A lot of people like the fact that a fairly large collection can be acquired for not a whole lot of investment, particularly if you take your time and are willing to settle for less-than-new condition examples. I will caution you though that some of the patterns are being made overseas now for the current owner of the Schrade trademarks. If you have a question that we can help you with, please feel free to ask. And do keep showing us you new aquisitions. We never get tired of looking at Schrade knives.

Thanks Michael! I was over reading the FAQ sticky. What an interesting history. I am enjoying the reading. Worth every penny I paid for the knives. Seems this particular knife was made between 1946 and 1973 according to one of the posts in the FAQ...still reading though. He was waiting for you to verify when I came back here. Thanks so much for your kindness and knowledge that you share.
I did get a 1940T with this knife. Both very inexpensive but I'm already enjoying following them down the rabbit hole...lol

The 108OT Old Timer Junior with a Schrade Walden stamp was made from 1963 to 1973, when they changed the stamping.

Early examples came in a hinged gift box.
