I recently bought a U.S.A made schrade+ 60T in an antique store, and was curious about what blade steel does it has? I can`t find any info anywhere about this.Thank you for any help.

From the Schrade Handbook of Knowledge: Schrade + is AISI 440A stainless Steel ..it gets its stainless properties from the inclusion of 17% chrome with 0.7% carbon in the steel. Schrade states they found 440A equally as good a cutlery steel as AISI 1095 <High Carbon> with the added benefit of a high degree of stain and rust resistance....
AISI 1095 Ladle sample %'s: Chemical Composition Limits...
Carbon .90-1.03....Magnesium .30 -.50 Phosphorus Max .040...Sulfur Max .050
AISI 440A.%'s....Sulfur .03...Carbon.60-.75 Magnesium 1.00....Silver 1.00....Chrome 16.0-18.0......Molybdenum .75.....Phosphorus .04...

Trust this helps....Hoo Roo

just a small correction there is no Silver purposely added to Steel; composition should be Silicon 1.00.

So I`m guessing the the blade steel on mine is 420HC? The 60T that I have is the golden bear, and from what little info that I found states that it was made sometime between 1995 and 2004 when the U.S. plant closed. Did they start using 440A then end up using 420HC?

The 6OT Golden Bear first order was placed on 4/14/1994 for 20,000+ units. The order requests a Aug 94 delivery date but I do not find any in the Y/E production counts.
It was indeed 440A as to changing to 420HC I do not know.
It used many of the same parts as the 7OT and the same sheath.
