Hello friends from the Porch ,

I've just found on internet this version of the Barlow

Of course it's the brand new Chinese version.
Is it a new model or it was produced in the US ?
If yes, may I have some pictures ? I would love to find it . OT + Barlow what a treasure šŸ˜

I dont believe that was ever made by schrade usa. Ulster did make an old timer barlow with plastic scales and old timer stamped on the bolster. can post pictures later today.

An example I have of the Ulster Old Timer Barlow that Kevin mentioned. The model number is 10OT
It was a part of an R.J. Reynolds Tobacco promotional campaign in the 1960's
Ulster-Old Timer-Barlow; 3-3/8″; clip, pen; Ulster (Prince Albert offer) 1964-1967; 1970 (last year produced) price was $4.75 in Ulster catalog
I don't think a Schrade stamped Old Timer 10OT Barlow was produced. The more recent Chinese version is a 280OT

Ulster also made the N°10 (and a spear point N°11(?) and Sheepsfoot No.12(?) Barlow long before the RJR "Old Timer" promotion, from at least the 1950's. I don't know if Ulster made a one armed Barlow, or what the model number was if they did. I'd be surprised if Imperial and Schrade ā€Šdidn't make one at some point in time during their respective histories.

My Ulster N°10 Barlow predates the RJR "Ulster-Old Timer knife promotion. No "Old Timer" stamp.

I ā€Šbelieve Imperial - Schrade shut down the Ulster name circa 1969~1970, in favor of the Old Timer name. I don't know if the early Old Timer knives made without the "Ulster-Old Timer" stamps were made in the old Ulster factory, or if that plant was shut down with willing workers being transferred to the new plant, wherever that was.
My 1978 to 1984 Old Timer 4 pin 7OT only has "Schrade USA 7OT" on the tang stamp. Same vintage Old Timer 858OT (no "OT" after the model number) adds "Schrade+" but again only says "Schrade USA" with no specific location for the plant, unlike the Imperials of that time which had "Prov. R.I." on the tang stamp, and the earlier Schrade knives that gave a city.

I believe there was a Schrade USA made "Old Timer 280OT" or possibly "28OT" after the RJR promotion ended, and the Ulster model numbering system, and name were dropped, in the early 70's.

Salut Ƃchille.
For me it's a Taylor made in China.
Maybe soon, you will find the future Barlow Old Timer made in USA, American Outdoor Brand as aquire Old Timer brand and looks to make the knifes in USA, but i do not know who makes them.

American Outdoor Brand as aquire Old Timer brand
Did they also acquire the active Imperial, Schrade, Uncle Henry brands, and any of the inactive brands, such as (but not limited to) IMPCO, NYKC, Hammer Brand, Ulster, and Frontier?

Is American Outdoor Brand a division/subsidiary of BTI?

If true the manufacture of the Old Timer line returns to the US, I hope (a) price point between Buck and Case ... leaning towards the Buck. (b) The return of a carbon steel stockman, barlow, canoe, trapper, muskrat, moose, and (full size) 2 blade slipjoint folding hunter

Oh man, I really hope they start making them in the USA again, I think they do on some of the models already. The Chinese ones arent too bad though honestly.
As far as the one shown in the first post, that is a new Chinese knife OP.

It seems that the Imperial, Schrade, Uncle Henry, and Old Timer names are now part of American Outdoor Brands.
Battenfeld Technologies Inc is also part of AOB. AOB used to be Smith and Wesson Corp.
The Old Timer Generations knives are supposedly made in the US by Bear and Son. The others, who knows.....probably still made in China....
