I was told you guys are in-the-know and could help with a value on a Schrade Pearl Harbor Collectors knife. My husband bought it about 20 years ago, it comes in a nice wooden box with a glass top and askeleton key, white military gloves. It hasn't ever been out of the box and has the original cardboard shipper too. I believe it is a limited production knife and can provice pictures if anyone thinks they can give me a value. Thanks so much, Tracy

Welcome! There was a complete set of Pearl Harbor knives, and if I recall, the centerpiece of the collection were a set of Bowie knives. If you can, post a picture of your knife.

This is just one knife not a set, it is very large 11 or 12 inches

I have photos, but they aren't on a url, can they be uploaded here?

You need to post them from a hosting site like Photobucket unless a paying member I think, but if you want to email me a JPG, I'll post it for you.

We'll have some more information for you in a bit. Nice pictures of a nice limited edition knife!

Your Pearl Harbor Commemorative Bowie was the centerpiece of a seven knife set. Besides the large Bowie pattern, there were six lockback knives, each with a different branch of the Armed Services featured.

Work on the samples began in late 1990 and according to a January 1991 New Product Information sheet, there were to be 500 sets made with a suggested retail of $2,500. There were to also be an additional 1,000 of the Pearl Harbor Bowies made with a suggested retail of $900.

Michael

So there were to be 1,500 of the Bowie pattern produced. I am not sure that that preproduction goal was reached, however (mostly due to the intricate processes involved in production and high retail price).

I'll dig a bit more and see what I can find.

1st offered in 1991 the full set is beautiful
Here is a copy of the package including the order form.

As Michael states there were a multitude of issues creating this set. Most of the problems were with the blade finishing and gold leaf.
Once the problems were straightened out the set come out as good looking as the flyers show.
Ive see a couple of these sets in person but sorry to say they never came home with me.
A close up of the note

Can anyone view the movie? Codger is having load issues.
I can try another format

I watched it last night, but it took an eternity to load. I had forgotten the tab was open, and it started up in what seemed like might have been 15 minutes or so (tried it again tonight, and it was 3.5 minutes not too bad). It was a great little reel. My system uses QuickTime, pretty much a current version.

Larry, I downloaded it tonight and with my DSL it took about 20 minutes or so. It is a good video. I am over here because I have bought a couple of LB7s to go with my Westerns.

Thanks guys.
I got a smaller version in a wmv format. Looks like a facebook video.
I'll wait till Codger tries it before posting.
