Were there any of the US made Pro Hunters that did not have any tang stamp?

This one has the Uncle Henry signature and the serial number (15531) and Schrade Super Sharp on the blade but no tang stamp whatsoever.

Are the Chinese Pro Hunters serialized?

Thanks!
Scott

Hi Scott, If your knife is a Chinese copy of a Schrade, thay sell for under $60 NIB.
If anything is made with pride in the USA, it is mostlikely stamped USA.
With the rubbish made in China, the seller would like you to think it was made in the U.S.A.

This is a knife made in China.

The older Schrade knife did have a serial number, not on the blade.

As far as I know, the Chinese knives are not serialized. It would be hard to say why yours has no stamp without seeing clear, close pictures. If it is a U.S. Schrade, it could have been a second or a special factory order for a customer like Sears.

...and if that is a low serial # does it have a birdshead pommel or square pommel like the example above.....I would be more inclined to think its genuine as well...interested to see the photos.....Codger perhaps the number 15531 is the number of chinese kids born on the day the knife was manufactured.....Lol....can't imagine Chitrade knives being serialised as there would be higher numbers than the current U.S. debt....Hoo Roo

I have a USA made 171UH without tang stamp also. Through the forum some years back, I was told that if an original knife was returned to the factory under the Uncle Henry warranty program, that the replacement 171UH was returned to the customer without a tang stamp. This would allow the factory to know it had already been sent out once under warranty. One per warranty, per customer.

Sorry I've been so slow at figuring out how to upload pics...
I did want to add that I had emailed Taylor Brands and asked if any of their production of the PH 171UH was serialized... their answer from their Packaging, Production, & Quality Control Manager was "None of our Uncle Henry Pro Hunter 171UH knives are serialized."

Oops sorry. Dully noted. Didn't see that. Wasn't my intention to be a troll. Edited post in question.

Thanks. Saved yourself a warning or worse from mods. Could be a factory second. They did have a factory store for employees where they sold discounted, unwarranted seconds and rejects. And of course when the company closed, everything went out the doors and eventually onto the market. Sometimes the reason for a reject is hard for laymen to see. Uneven grind perhaps. Or bad stamp from a fractured or worn die.

Thanks for the answer!

Now I see what you mentioned above about the W&C forum only.

If you don't click on the more link thou you wouldn't know that the jerkit emoticon was only for that particular forum.

Rookie move on my part.

We were all new here at one time. That is why I gave you a verbal heads-up/warning instead of an official one. Now go buy more Schrades!
