Never seen much about this old knife. Has anyone done a review or tests of this knife. Wondering what other people think about edge retention, wear, ect. Cliff stamp?

Schrade used the designation pro-hunter a couple of times. I believe the original was a fairly large upswept design with a pointy point. Sort of like a sharpfinger on steroids. It would be a good skinner but that point would be trouble when gutting.

They also made a mini-pro hunter which was a collaboration with Loveless. This one had a beautiful and useful dropped point blade shape. I'd buy one in a heart beat.

Both knives were probably 1095 carbon steel which has a good rep for having a good combination of edge holding and toughness. Straight forward enough to heat-treat that most are done up very well. They do rust if neglected but my 1980's sharpfinger is going strong. I generally coat my carbon blades with mustard or soak in vinegar coated rags for a couple of hours to let them take a patina that resists further oxidation. You might want to hesitate if you are collecting but if a using knife it's a good idea.

I'm curious would the model #'s be PH1 and PH2.if so I just sharpened the
PH1.it took a wicked edge its schrade + steel not carbon.
