I may be mistaken but i am under the impression that Schrade has been bought and sold and is now out of business. When did schrade close there doors. I have a few Schrade knives and wanted to know the age of them, generally speaking. If I know when they closed I can figure that they can only be ??? years old. They seem pretty new. Any help would be great...

Imperial Schrade declared bankruptcy in July of 2004. The company was not sold, but all assets were liquidation auctioned in October of 2004. Included in the auction was the portfolio of trademarks, copyrights, patents and slogans. This portfolio was purchased by Stewart Taylor for his company Taylor Brands LLC. They shortly began having knives made for them overseas using marks from that portfolio including Schrade and Old Timer. The company, Schrade, ceased to exist in 2004 though.

In it you will find copies of all of the catalogs from Schrade to help identify your knives and estimate their age. If you post pictures of them here, we can likely help. Some knives which look new may actually be old and some knives which look old may be relatively new. As Mr. Levine would say, " condition indicates... condition, not age".
