Are there some books out there that some may consider "must haves" for the Schrade pocket knife collector? I'd certainly be interested in any books that contain information about the history of the Schrade Knife companies, and how they came to play a part in Schrade knives ie. Ulster, Walden, Schrade Cutlery Company, etc.
What is the best reference book for looking up today's market prices of pocket knives?
I realize that value is relative, but as a new collector, I need someplace to start.

Thanks - I just ordered two books - 1. The Official Price Guide to Collector Knives, 15th Edition; and 2. The Standard Knife Collectors Guide, 6th Edition.

Bernard Levines 4th Edition is a nice book to have too. For anyone who is into knives and specially pocket knife patterns. They are tough to find. Some Schrade stuff in there, but a well done comprehensive guide. The pricing is a little low since they are old, but the write ups and illustrations are great.

Unless things have changed in recent months, tough to find is exactly right! When I bought mine I stumbled across a BIN for $28.00 on a used one. I had been searching for about 6 months up to that point and hadn't found anything for less than +$125. Good luck in your search!

Just like finding some knives. I found mine on Amazon and paid very little, got lucky. Like knives, some end up being an exercise in patience, or a lack of.

'Sargents' Second Edition is a must for Schrade Cut Co and S/ Walden....<3rd & 4th Sargents have nothing on Schrade>
