hello, i just picked up 2 older x-timers for 11 bucks each brand new-i can't find out much about them other than it looks like they were made for about 1 year in 2003-i remember seeing them in sears for like 40 bucks back then-i just thought i got a good deal and bought them yesterday-i have not gotten them yet and wondered if they are any good? (at least worth 22 bucks for 2?) also does anyone know what kind of steel this is???---i know taylor is still making this same knife in china, but again-the ones i got are the old schrade+ usa 60tx tang stamped ones made by schrade, not taylor...

I'd say they're worth $11 each. Not very popular among collectors though, who tend to specialize in the more traditional Schrade brands like Old Timer and Uncle Henry. But in the future, who knows.

Mine is a SC70TX. The handle is really uncomfortable, but there are no obvious defects in workmanship. No gaps, the edge is nicely sharpened, there is no blade play, and the lockback action is confident with a nice 'snap'.

Only made for one year? Some of the X-Timer models were being made in 2004 as the factory closed.

thanks-i know they are not wanted by collectors but i thought it was a deal-i will most likely use one and give one as a gift--- the reason i thought they stopped making them in 2003 is they are not in the 2004 price list-but that doesn't mean they did not make them that year...
