Does anyone have experience with this knife? I have to admit, aesthetically I love the stonewashed blade and the handle design so naturally I look for an excuse to buy one, but I can't ignore performance or lack thereof. My current setup for outdoor trips includes a Mora Robust / Laplander Saw and a modified Ontario machete. My EDC is a mini Griptilian. I do have an Izula that floats around when I'm in the mood to take it.

So I'm drawn to the SCHF14 even without much of a reason to be, and overall the reviews seem good on Amazon, but there are an alarming few reviews that indicate that maybe it's treated to such a hardness that it's brittle as a result leading to several examples breaking unpredictably. I wouldn't mind just buying it and taking it on a trip if I knew I could depend on it, but I'm not sure if this is normal with these knives or if the heat treat is just inconsistent and most likely the one I would get would be fine.

If not the SCHF14, are there any knives with similar styling that are more robust?

I don't have any experience, but I did check it out and it looks like a nice, stout knife and for the price, what are you going to lose?

There myriad options in that knife category in an infinite array of prices, with that knife being on the low end of the price range, not that the price is a necessary indication of it's usefulness or durability.
