Just got the Schrade schf9 a few days ago...got it on Amazon for about $40....super impressed! It's 1095 steel...razor sharp (after a quick touch up) and it's a solid full tang quarter inch hunk of steel...it's pretty heavy and has a pretty large handle...good for large hands...I have a bunch of expensive survival knives...and I would put this knife up in my top pics for a knife I would rely on for survival....it's seriously badass! I would post a pic but I can't figure out how lol...my bad

Just wanted to share this so that people on a budget know about this badass knife for around $40

The SCHF9 is a Brian Griffin design. I guess I am surprised to see Schrade still sells it. Griffin fell out with Schrade over a couple of his designs, the SCHF42 and SCHF55, and withdrew from his deal with them. I assumed, apparently in error, that the 9 was part of that dispute.

Griffin wrote extensively on this forum about how he came to design the 42 and 55, a very interesting story which prompted me to buy the knives. I don’t think I’ll jump on the SCHF9 right now, but it is good to know it can still be had. I would probably like it more than a couple of other $40 camp knives I have.
