Schrade Scrimshaw of the Great Outdoors Complete Set in Display Case

Hello,

Many years ago, I think in the late seventies early eighties maybe my Father bought and gave to me a Schrade Scrimshaw of the Great Outdoors set complete in it's own display case. The case is the case as it was displayed at the store and I have all the knife boxes with any leather sheaths that came with the knives.

I am wondering if anyone here has more information regarding this set and if possible the collectability and value of the set?

The set contains the following:

508SC w/sheath
502SC w/sheath
509SC w/sheath
505SC
507SC Lockback w/sheath
506SC
503SC Stainless Lockback
500SC Lockback w/sheath

The case is particle board with a wood grain vinyl like covefr covering it, with a red velvet like interior with black lettering on the red velvet. The knives are inset in the red velvet with a clear plexiglass cover.

UPDATE: I just looked at the boxes and they are black cardboard boxes inside a white cardboard sleeve. The white cardboard sleeve has "81" stamped on it so I assume this means 1981?

First, exact identification of your set is difficult without a picture. They were annual sets with different designs most years.

The first set I note with eight knives included was issued in 1981. The sets for 1982, '83 and '84 also had eight knives in them, then the sets went to seven knives for a while.

Soooo....my best shot at identifying your set is for you to add which species were depicted on them.

506SC - 3 1/2" Two Blade Barlow pattern with Fox art
507SC - 5" Lockback pattern with Bear art
508SC - 5 1/4" Two Blade Folding Hunter pattern with two Raccoons art
509SC - 6 ½" Little Finger fixed blade pattern with two Canada Geese Flying art

The set you show in your picture is the exact set I have. The display case shown at the bottom of the page picture is the same case I have along with all original boxes, sheaths etc. I will confirm the patterns later today and reply here.

After checking the set this afternoon, I see that it is the exact set in your above picture with the same sckrimshaw 'scences' as described/shown in your pic for 1981.
